Andrew Bailey: No-deal Brexit would be worse for the economy than Covid-19

Bailey said it would be in the best interests of the UK and EU to reach a trade agreement

The governor of the Bank of England Andrew Bailey has told MPs that the long-term effects of a no-deal Brexit on the economy would be worse than the long-term impacts of the coronavirus epidemic.

“The long-term effects… I think would be larger than the long-term effects of Covid,” Bailey said in answer to a question about which event would have the greatest economic impact.
