Barclays’ China fund middleman latest to face questions in Staveley case

Lawyers for Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners pressed Kenneth Griffin on whether he ever acted as a principal investor

A middleman who tried to tee up an investment in Barclays by China’s sovereign wealth fund has been cross-examined by lawyers for Amanda Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners.

In the latest chapter of the £1.5bn High Court case, Kenneth Griffin, former president of the boutique bank BGR Capital & Trade, was pressed on his evidence about Barclays’ emergency cash call in 2008.
