Mark Carney warns against splitting euro-clearing

Bank of England governor also tells Mansion House there could be more bilateral trade agreements covering financial services

The governor of the Bank of England has warned against fragmenting Europe's market for clearing euro-denominated derivatives.

In a speech at a breakfast event at Mansion House, Mark Carney said splitting global clearing markets by jurisdiction or currency "would reduce the benefits of central clearing" and drive up costs.
