Former City minister Tulip Siddiq has been handed a two-year prison sentence in Bangladesh after a trial in her absence over corruption allegations.

The MP for Hampstead and Highgate was found guilty of influencing her aunt, the former Bangladeshi prime minister Sheikh Hasina, to secure land for her family on the outskirts of the capital city Dhaka, the BBC reports.
