FCA refutes claim it mishandled bond tape auction

Regulator has asked a court to lift a suspension on awarding the consolidated tape contract while it challenges Ediphy’s lawsuit

The Financial Conduct Authority has refuted allegations of a technical error and mishandling potential conflicts of interest in response to a lawsuit over its process to create a centralised bond trading data feed.

In its written defence to a High Court legal challenge brought by British fintech Ediphy, the FCA said “there was no technical fault” in a round of bidding in August among prospective operators of the UK’s first consolidated tape for bonds.
