Goldman Sachs has acquired a US-based ETF business in a deal worth around $2bn, giving the Wall Street bank a foothold in the fast-growing market.

The acquisition will see Goldman purchase Innovator Capital Management, which oversees $28bn across almost 160 defined outcome ETFs — a type of product that uses options-based strategies to offer investors income and downside protection over a specific period.
