The Wall Street bank's huge bond trading business has had an uncharacteristically challenging year

Goldman Sachs has appointed new co-operating chiefs at its vast bond trading business, which has had an uncharacteristically challenging year.

The US bank has named Jim Esposito and Justin Gmelich as co-chief operating officers of fixed income, currencies and commodities, according to a memo sent to staff by co-heads of securities Isabelle Ealet, Pablo Salame and Ashok Varadhan.
