In September 2023, the London Stock Exchange Group unveiled plans to transform the buying, selling and holding of traditional assets, aiming to deliver a project called ‘digital markets infrastructure’.

The proposed “end-to-end digital market ecosystem” would be powered by blockchain — technology that records and verifies transactions in a digital ledger. At the time, LSEG hoped to start rolling out the offering by the end of 2024.
