UK private markets firms are facing a probe into everything from the gifts staff accept to the fees they charge investors and how they run continuation funds, Financial News can reveal.

A copy of a survey sent to firms in the sector by the Financial Conduct Authority, seen by FN, shows questions are also being asked about payment-in-kind models in private credit and about whether retail investors are getting a fair deal as they pile into the space.
