Schroders CEO: ‘Public markets are definitely not dead’

Richard Oldfield said asset managers’ investment in listed companies ensures ‘there is oil in the system to grease the way the whole economy works’

The chief executive of Schroders has urged caution on calling time on the attractiveness of listed companies, despite a concerted push by asset managers into fast-growing private markets.

“We’ve got to be careful not to call the death of public markets,” Richard Oldfield told delegates at a London conference organised by the Financial Times on 25 November.
