Plans to create a golden source of UK stock trading data could give investors a £154m boost over a decade, according to the Financial Conduct Authority.

The City regulator has launched a consultation on proposals to introduce Britain’s first consolidated tape for equities — a centralised trading data feed designed to bring down prices and improve transparency.
