Finnish government wants to abolish electricity tax breaks for data centres

XTX Markets is reassessing plans to spend more than €1bn building a data centre complex in Finland as it seeks clarity on the country’s proposed changes to electricity tax.

The London-based algorithmic trading firm’s “longer-term investment roadmap remains under review due to the proposed changes in electricity taxation”, XTX’s chief operating officer Michael Irwin said in a statement on 11 August.
