Billionaire mathematician is one of Britain’s biggest taxpayers

Alex Gerko, the billionaire founder of trading firm XTX Markets, is appealing to the UK’s top court after losing a legal fight over a £22.5m tax bill.

Gerko, one of Britain’s biggest taxpayers, is making his challenge in the Supreme Court this week alongside 12 other former employees of hedge fund GSA Capital.
